V is for Visuals, also known as Vanessa (V) Lansdale, is a Canadian-American web developer, artist, and photographer based in Denver, CO. Originally from Detroit, MI, V’s artistic practice explores the interplay of contrast, line, and shape, crafting immersive environments that encourage viewers to reflect on their perspectives and relationships with the world around them.
Recurring themes in V's work include the relationship between black and white elements, as well as the dynamic between technology and nature. Her photography embraces a documentarian style, highlighting the beauty, abundance, and intricate details of our surroundings, with a particular focus on organic compositions and colors.
V aims to operate at the intersection of community building, art and design, technology, and interactive experiences. Her mission is to positively impact small businesses and community through graphic design, photography, web development, and more.
Web Development
As a full-time project manager and freelance website developer, V is passionate about helping small businesses establish their online presence through affordable, visually stunning, search engine-optimized websites.
Graphic Design
After spending two years as a full-time van lifer, V was deeply inspired by the places she visited, which further ignited her passion as a creator. She is self-taught in Adobe Creative Suite and Procreate and experiments with various styles through digital and mixed mediums.
V's most recent graphic design work is fueled by her love for dubstep and streetwear x festival fashion.
Photography
As a child, V was surrounded by the art of documenting moments—her father, likely inspired by his parents (both of whom were professional photographers in Toronto), was always behind the camera, capturing the family's adventures.
V began taking photographs with a simple point-and-shoot Hello Kitty camera in her early teens, then moved on to a Fujifilm point-and-shoot. Later, she received a Nikon DSLR from her grandfather when she started her first photography class in college. After 8+ of practicing photography, V continues to shoot with a Nikon as a tribute to her grandparents, who also used Nikon during their careers.
